The Janus II survey vessel – operated by Keran Liban and contracted by TotalEnergies and its partners, Eni and QatarEnergy – arrived today at the Port of Beirut after completing an environmental survey in Block 9 offshore Lebanon.
On this occasion, a visit on board of the vessel took place in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Water, the Minister of Environment, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, the Director General of the Port of Beirut, representatives from the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA), along with other officials from different Lebanese administrations.
The return of the Janus II concludes an 8-day mission during which the vessel collected images of the seabed, took samples of water and sediments, and monitored marine life in the area.
The information and data that were collected will be analyzed in the framework of the Environmental Impact Assessment report which is a prerequisite for this drilling operation, in compliance with the international and local regulations.
